Salem and Lyndale are planning for redevelopment at the Salem site at 28thStreet and Lyndale Avenue. Brighton Development is working on this project which is expected to be complete in September 2010 and will include a shared, sustainable, green-friendly ministry center for the two congregations (in the redeveloped shell of Salem’s sanctuary structure), as well as housing, parking, and retail. LHB Architects is contracted by Brighton for this project. The original Request for Information is available to view at R.F.I. Salem’s goals for development include providing ministry in their neighborhood, maintaining a legacy for itself, and creating a sustainable financial situation.
Anticipating the redeveloped ministry center to be shared by Lyndale United Church of Christ and Salem Lutheran, Lyndale UCC is selling its property at 31st and Aldrich. A move for the two congregations is anticipated in April 2009 to an interim home at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Avenue South. Salem and Lyndale UCC would be tenants at Intermedia Arts, using their gallery and theater space for worship and Sunday morning activities, and maintaining an office there as well.
Salem is a faith community led by the Holy Spirit and on the move as it embarks on an exciting next phase of its ministry. Please include Salem in your prayers and be part of the future into which God is calling!
