Middle School Group Lock-In

Believe it or not, this is the morning aft er picture from the middle school lock-in. They are surprisingly rested and had a great overnight that included plenty of cooking and snacking, games, conversation, fun, worship planning (they lead Salem’s service on April 29 and Lyndale UCC’s on May 6), and even some sleep! Fearless leader Jillian Emery (not pictured) will be much missed!

For the past 18 months I have been working on my Masters in Children, Youth and Family Ministry with a focus on Outdoor Ministry at Luther Seminary. I am counting the days until graduation on Sunday, May 20! However, I am not counting down the days to my last day at Salem and Lyndale. Since my position is part of my schooling, my contract ends this spring. Sunday, May 13 will be my final day as the youth and young adult minister at Salem and Lyndale. I cannot begin to say what a blessing this job and all of you have been to me over the past 18 months. Before I accepted this position, it had been a few years since I had been part of a congregation and I had really missed this type of community. I want to thank all of you for making me feel welcome, for supporting my work with the youth and the young adults, and for reminding me how loving and caring God’s family truly is. I will miss you all very much, but I look forward to coming back to worship and visit. It is difficult to begin searching for other youth director jobs and to leave a place I have truly come to love, but I know that God will continue to work in all of us wherever God leads us. "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:3-6.
